Racing

Hi Everyone;

Now that we have some boats in the basin it’s time to start getting ready for the 2026 Racing Season. This year we have some exciting new changes to our Thursday evening series, as well as a couple of great weekend activities that we hope you will mark down on your calendars.

Thursday May 28th will be our Shakedown race this year, with a Skipper’s Meeting taking place in the Pavilion at 5:00 pm, and the first boat starting at 6:30 pm. This will be an exhibition race which will not count towards our standings, HOWEVER we will be timing all participating boats for the first three Thursdays in order to adjust our club ratings and start times this year. Please make it out if you can!

The first weekend event this year is a Non-Competitive sail around the marks called Jump Start the Season on Saturday June 6th. Beginning at 11:00 am in the Pavilion, veteran EMT (and sailor) Mark Shaw will be facilitating a one hour CPR and AED demonstration and refresher session for interested members. This will be followed (ironically) by coffee and donuts and a Skippers meeting at 12:30 pm with course instructions and maps. Boats are asked to meet near the start/finish line for an approximate 2:00 pm start to enjoy a leisurely sail around the marks. We will try to set a course that will allow for about 2 hours of sailing time, and then hope everyone will join us back at the club for a casual BBQ and pot-luck meal.

In addition to these events, please save the following dates for more fun and unique sailing activities including Team Races on Saturday July 18th and September 12th and another Non-Competitive sail on Saturday August 15th. We will also be sending out information soon about TRYC’s inaugural Challenge Cup Series, so please watch your email or the Facebook group for that.

Looking forward to a great season and please get in touch for any further information. If you don’t wish to receive email messages from the Race Committee just reply and let us know and we’ll take you off the list.

Thanks!
