Welcome to the friendliest Yacht Club on the Great Lakes!
Just a few yards upstream from the Thames River Lighthouse (one of the oldest on the Great Lakes), lies one of the friendliest little yacht clubs on the Great Lakes. The Thames River Yacht Club is in the village of Lighthouse Cove, Ontario, at the mouth of the Thames River near the southeast corner of Lake St. Clair.
Some TRYC History:
TRYC was incorporated on January 7, 1981, by the Province of Ontario as a not-for-profit corporation and operates as a Self-Help, Members Helping Members Club. The club owns the yacht basin and the large grassy area to the west, cottage, picnic shelter, gin pole, washroom and shower building. The membership elects a board of directors annually and all senior members are entitled to vote on a one vote per Member basis.
Each year we manage to complete a number of projects to improve the amenities at the club such adding a deck to the office, large picnic shelter, gazebo at the mouth, very large gin pole deck, improvements to hydro & water facilities, dinghy dock, expanded cradle area, and reinforcement of our shorelines.
At present our 2024 project is to knock down the existing washroom/ shower building and upgrade to a larger facility to accommodate our growing numbers.
We’re happy to say that with current pending Senior Membership applications, our basin is nearing at capacity and we may have a short waiting list. Please feel free to contact us with your requirements.
