2023 TRY-Sea Regatta NOR

NOTICE OF RACE: Sunday, September 3rd, 2023

RULES:
  • The above event will be governed by the rules defined in the 2021-24 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) unless changed in the sailing instructions provided by the Thames River Yacht Club.
  • The Organizing Authority for this regatta is the Thames River Yacht Club (TRYC).
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY:
  • The event requires all boats with a PHRF rating.
  • A current valid measurement or rating certificate is not required changing RRS 78.1
  • Boats wishing to participate are required to register a minimum of 1 day in advance excluding fees which can be paid upon arrival at the Thames River Yacht Club.
  • Failure to register a minimum of 24 hours in advance will special permission of the Organizing Authority to participate.
VENUE:
  • Visiting boats will be docked at the Thames River Yacht Club as space permits. Alternate dockage may be arranged by the Organizing Authority if necessary. Docking will be available from Friday, September 1, 2023 to Monday, September 4, 2023.
  • Race Course(s) will be located in the Southeast corner of Lake St. Clair in the vicinity of the Red and White Buoy designated as T.
SCHEDULE:
  • Sunday, August 27, 2023
    • Posting of Sailing Instructions on Thames River Yacht Club notice board which is located on the front of the bathroom building and online at https://tryconline.ca/.
  • Friday, September 1, 2023
    • Welcoming of visiting boats to Thames River Yacht Club.
  • Saturday, September 2, 2023
    • Welcoming of visiting boats to Thames River Yacht Club.
    • Final Day for registration and payment of fees.
    • Welcome Party under shelter at approximately 5:30pm which includes: burgers & hot dogs, plus sides and salads.
  • Sunday, September 3, 2023
    • At 8:30am breakfast provided by Grosse Point Yacht Club.
    • At 10:00 EDT class splits to be posted on Thames River Yacht Club notice board. Skippers Meeting at TRYC Shelter.
    • At 12:00 Noon first warning signal at designated start line (see Sailing Instructions).
    • At approximately 5:30pm dinner and awards under shelter at Thames River Yacht Club.
ENTRY FEE:
  • $30.00 per boat entry fee which will includes dinner tickets.
  • Early registrations received prior to August 27, 2023 will have a reduced entry fee of $25.00
  • Additional dinner tickets will be available for $10.00 per person, non-racer.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
  • Sailing Instructions to be posted on the Thames River Yacht Club notice board and online at https://tryconline.ca/ no later than Sunday, August 27, 2023.
  • Any changes to sailing instructions will be posted on the Thames River Yacht Club notice board no later than 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
COURSES:
  • Course map and possible racecourses will be included with the sailing instruction. The map will include approximate locations of marks, directions to them, and distances between them.
  • Course to be sailed will be displayed by the on the water race committee prior to the first warning signal.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY:
  • Competitors participate in the TRY-Sea Regatta at their own risk. See RRS 3 “Decision to Race.” The responsibility for the decision to participate in a race or to continue with it is solely with the skipper; to that extent, the skipper also accepts full responsibility for the crew. The skipper is responsible for the qualification and the correct nautical conduct of the crew and the suitability and the transport-safe-condition of the registered boat. The Thames River Yacht Club or the Thames River Yacht Club Race Committee will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with, before, during, or after the TRY-Sea Regatta.
  • The Laws of the Province of Ontario shall prevail.
INSURANCE:
  • Each participating boat shall have valid third party liability coverage with a minimum of coverage of $500 000 per incident or equivalent.
